Logitech just unveiled a lineup of new products via their official press release. These new products include:

Out of all the new products, the Logitech QuickCam Fusion bundled with Logitech Video Effects can be considered as a new benchmark for consumer webcam performance and technologies.

Firstly, the Logitech QuickCam Fusion is a true 1.3 megapixel sensor with an integrated microphone with vastly improved audio and video performance over previous-generation webcams using Logitech RightLight and RightSound technologies. It features an ultra-wide field of view lens, which provides 78 degrees of visibility, making it convenient for an entire family to join a video call.

Secondly, Logitech Video Effects allows users to transform their image into three-dimensional animated characters or avatars (e.g. aliens, sharks, trucks, etc), whose expressions and movements precisely mimic the facial expressions. Users can also use Logitech Video Effects to add animated accessories (e.g. eyeglasses, crown, etc) to their on-screen image. Additional Logitech Video Effects avatars and face accessories will be made available through Logitech later at no additional charge. Logitech Video Effects software works with all popular webcam applications including MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. Video clips and still images using Logitech Video Effects avatars can also be captured and shared via e-mail.

The technology in Logitech Video Effects is developed by California-based Neven Vision. It maps facial expressions by tracking up to 22 points on the face, around the eyes, eyebrows, and mouth. The avatar then mimics the facial movements and expressions determined by those points, moving fluidly as the person participates in a video call or a video instant messaging session.

The Logitech QuickCam Fusion has a suggested retail price of USD$100 and will be available at retailers and online beginning this month in both U.S. and Europe.
